Speech issue

Hi,

I'm a 20 year old male and for 4-5 years now I've had this strange speech issue which I've never been able to resolve or find any information on so I would be ecstatic if you were able to give me any insight at all as to what could be going on here.

I feel like there are many layers to the issue but I'll try to keep it brief and focus on the main aspect of it. Whenever I speak I only ever have 5 or so minutes of speaking clearly before I will inevitably start to experience dysfluencies with my voice. I get this tingling sensation in my throat and I constantly feel like I'm going to stutter from then on. It's like I'm physically incapable of producing words in the same way that I could before. It feels like my vocal muscles just stop cooperating completely and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it except stop talking for a few seconds until it fixes itself. When I start speaking again, I'll be able to talk clearly for a few seconds and then it will kick it again. Rinse and repeat. The only way to 'reset' my voice it seems is to stop talking at all for a few hours until it starts cooperating again.

I've been seeing a speech pathologist for about 8 months now and she seems to think it's a mental issue, as in the physical effects are being caused by my expectations of them occurring. I've been taught syllable-timed speech and that helps a lot but it doesn't fix the problem completely and I don't want to have to resort to speaking in that way all my life.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from you!
