Articulation practice can be tedious—and finding quality Spanish articulation materials can be even harder.
That’s exactly why I created these Spanish articulation smash mats: to make articulation practice simple, engaging, and efficient, without hours of prep or hard-to-find materials.
These smash mats are designed to help students get many correct productions in a short amount of time, while staying motivated and focused.
This Spanish Articulation Smash Mats Packet Includes:
- Articulation smash mats for: B, CH, D, F, G, K, L, M, N, P, R, S, T
- There articulation mats for the initial and medial position and final position (when applicable)
- There is one smash mat for each sound which combines all word positions
- There are game boards for the all sounds listed above
How I Use Spanish Articulation Smash Mats in Therapy
These mats can be used in many different ways, depending on your goals and setting.
(Tip: Print and laminate pages so they can be reused with tokens, dry-erase markers, or playdough.)
Articulation Practice Ideas
- Word level: Name the picture, then place a token or playdough
- Sentence level: Say the word and use it in a sentence before taking a turn
- Two-word challenge: Pick two pictures and create a sentence using both
- Connected speech: Choose a favorite or least favorite picture and explain why
- Game format: Use a dice or coin to move along a game board and name pictures as you go
These ideas support articulation at increasing levels of complexity.
Language Practice Ideas
Spanish articulation smash mats also work well for language goals:
- Name a function or category of a picture
- Describe a picture using attributes
- Find two related pictures and explain the connection
- Choose an action, place, and character to create a short story
This makes the materials especially helpful for mixed articulation–language groups.
