I Spy and Self-Assessment

You may be thinking...how does "I Spy" and self-assessment go together? Well...here, they do!

I have been thinking about my articulation clients lately. Some have made wonderful progress but the last hurddle is self-correction and generalization to conversational speech.

That jump can be hard for many young children for many reasons. However, some don't have strong phonological awareness skills. By this, I mean, the child may not realize that the word "shut" begins with SH.

I have lots of activities for this in my office but not on my computer. To help, I created some PowerPoint "I spy" where the child has to find words that start with their target sound. To see what I am talking about, click this link: d-spy My clients have been enjoying these all week! For articulation and ANY speech-language goal, it is always good to review goals before a session and then have the child or parent these days review progress at the end of EACH session. To make this easier, I have some free self-assessment tools. Click the image or link to check it out. It is teletherapy friendly!
