2.5yr olf speech
My son is 2.5yrs old and for the last 6 months, I have paid a great deal of attention to his speech development. I have found that he hasn't progressed much, he says a lot of single words but won't put many words together. He also won't copy words that you say to him.
He says things like, mum juice, mum baby, sissy no etc. He also has his own words for things and no amount of correcting helps... eg water is bable. He uses the word apple for many things too.
In the last 24hrs we have had a breakthrough, after today at daycare his teacher said she would say words really really really slow and he would repeat.
He did it for me with so many words as well. I was over the moon.
We have had his hearing checked too and that is fine. I found he really focussed on my lips when I would say the words.
Why does this method work for him?
I am amazed at how he repeated the words, not 100% but so great for a little boy who wouldn't say things yesterday.
