Does your child have trouble saying T as in? Has your child been attending speech therapy for a long time and progress has been slow? Does your child have trouble saying S, yes S(more on why this matters in a second)? You are not alone! Speech Therapy T App can help!
We created this app to help you help your child practice articulation skills at home!
It is available on Amazon and Google Play. I wanted to make something that is affordable and easy to access for everyone. For only $2.99, it is yours!
To put it simply, if a child can't say T, he/she most likely won't be able to say S. The tongue placement and jaw stability are the same for S and T. Jaw needs to be up and centered and the tongue needs to be behind the teeth.
However, T is a plosive sound which means air just stops and escapes. This can be easier to coordinate for children. S is a fricative sound which means airflow is continuous. This can be trickier to coordinate while worrying about tongue position, jaw stability, and co-articulating all the other sounds in the word.
If your child is having trouble with S...take a look at T first!
How This App Works:
This app is much different then the apps you are used to and I did that on purpose. If you are new to this site, before reading on, you should know that there aren't any tricks or gimmicks here! Instead, this site promotes real speech and language learning learning in a natural environment. That is the ONLY way communication skills are learned.
Fancy graphics and games are enticing, but unfortunately, they don't help your child with articulation skills. I learned that the hard way. I have spent WAY too much money on fancy apps.
Instead, Speech Therapy T App is a tutorial full of learning, tips, and games. It is a comprehensive app that describes how to say T and then how to teach it to your child. You will learn how to systematically practice T with your child using research proven techniques in the comfort of your own home. All the needed materials are provided as well as game ideas for every level of practice. There is also a bonus section of photo flashcards that you can bring up on your device for a quick practice.
What you can expect:
This app is a tutorial which includes explanations, teaching materials, functional games, and flashcards all wrapped up into one app! You can expect to do a bit of learning at first, and then, carve out a few minutes each day to practice with your child. It only takes a few minutes, seriously!
Who should use this app:
Who made Speech Therapy T App:
This app was created by, ME, a practicing, speech language pathologist who understands how much practice is needed for articulation (speech) therapy and knows how parents really have all the power to make the biggest difference. However, parents don't always have access to everything they need. Speech therapy can also be expensive and this is frustrating for everyone!! To reach more families, I made this app for a VERY affordable price so everyone can get learning today.
This app is a supplemental, home program. If you have concerns about your child, we recommend a consultation by a speech language pathologist before beginning any home program.
