Speech Language Therapy Materials

Welcome to our speech language therapy materials page! I will share some of our own materials and recommend some must haves for all age groups. At the end, there is a place to share your own favorites.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE share your own suggestions. We all can learn! It helps us stay fresh and interested. Honestly, I think my students could do the same activities each week, but I am the one who gets bored! Anyone else feel this way?

Since I have worked in every setting possible as an SLP,

  • Early Intervention
  • Preschool
  • Schools
  • Private Practice
  • Hospitals
  • Sub-acute
  • Outpatient Rehab
  • Inpatient Rehab

Early Intervention and Preschool

For this age group, most of my speech language therapy materials are toys. We all know that children at this age learn best while playing. Play is real work for them! I want my toys to be engaging, durable, and versatile. Also, variety is key! Children have such a wide variety of interests and children learn the most while interested and engaged in functional play.

We offer some game ideas to try during therapy or to give out to your parents as weekly homework! Here is our free list:

Elementary and Middle School

For school age children, I try to incorporate the school curriculum as much as possible. Therefore, most of my materials compliment school material and support their learning. However, I like to throw in a few games and motivational tools just to keep the kids excited and interested :) This goes for middle school children as well. Children at this age still like to play games!

By popular demand, this section will be growing this year. So far, we have:

Adults

For therapy with adults, being functional is even more key since therapy is rehabilitation. Therapy and goals should be specifically tailored to a patient's life and life goals.

I haven't worked in this setting in a few years so I don't have any must haves or materials, but I will add to it when I can!

When buying materials, I look for...

  • Versatility: Can this material be used for more than one goal?
  • Functionality: Is it portable? Can I move it from facility to facility or office to classroom?
  • Price: It is reasonable?
  • Durability: Will it survive kids dropping, kicking and/or throwing it?
  • Compatible with age group/goals: Is it functional? Does it target goals?

For my Amazon lovers, I created a Therapy Store to organize my purchases and add to my wishlists. Check it out! Speech Language Therapy Materials Store
